Where are we?

Koramo Cottage is on the southern slopes of Mt Taranaki/Mt Egmont in south Taranaki. Tweny minutes from the central Taranaki township of Stratford and only 45 minutes from the regions main centre New Plymouth. For those travelling from the south Koramo Cottage is an easy 30 minute drive from Hawera.

Koramo Cottage is 10 minutes to Dawson Falls visitor centre on the slopes of Mount Egmont (Taranaki) where there are numerous bush walks, or for the really keen the summit track. Dawson Falls also has a great restaurant.

Koramo Cottage is less than 15 minutes drive to Opunake beach with great swimming and playground.

There are other attractions special to South Taranaki such as Dairyland, an incredible account of our dairy industry and how our favourite products are made; Tawhiti Museum - one man’s dream realised and really amazing; or step back in time to a village street 100 years ago at the Pioneer Village.

New Plymouth and its wonderful Pukekura park, the new interactive Puke Ariki museum, the controversial wind wand and the new coastal walkway is within 50 minutes drive.

Surf Highway 45 with its great surf and beaches can be reached within 10 minutes.

For the gardener there is Hollards Gardens, Pukeiti and many other lovely gardens to visit, especially at rhododendron time when there are many local private gardens open to the public.

There are numerous golf courses, swimming pools, and parks around Taranaki for all to enjoy.
