Castle Camps

The village of Castle Camps is situated in the south eastern corner of the county of Cambridge in England and is part of the administrative area known as Chilford Hundred. It lies 15 miles south east of the city of Cambridge and its southern parish borders follow the county border with Suffolk and Essex. It is essentially a rural area with its main activity in the past being agriculture and once a military stronghold for the Earls of Oxford.

It is a small village - hardly more than 1100 people have lived there at any one time, yet it has a vibrant and interesting history.
